Should I upgrade my 1st generation Apple Watch?

My 1st generation Apple Watch works fantastic minus the insanely $1,000 expensive watch band that stopped latching. Other than the watch band my 1st gen works great. Is there a need to upgrade to the 6? I’ve even worn the 1st gen in the ocean and it’s never hurt the Watch. I go with my gut that Apple “over-engineers” their products which is what I like and why I have bought. So now in 2019 my 1st generation Apple Watch STILL works...

Is that $1,000 USD? In the US the link band was half of that price.

There will be no more software updates for your 1st Generation Watch and you are right about the point that you will need to replace your battery so it will not swell and push the screen off. But no one here can determine your needs as well as you can plus there are other factors such as age, health status, etc. that come into play that we can't help with.

It is not the name given or used by Apple, and never has been on any version of OS. The rules here say to be accurate and check your work so I responded accurately. I've never been concerned about points. I will point out incorrect information, that is not a bad bedside manner. None of the magazines/sites I've read have ever referred to it as OS Beta 6, since this could be any of the OS's that Apple uses.

Please show me a link where they call it OS Beta 6.

Thanks everyone....aside from the OS6 being a beta or not is not my question. That issue does not really have any bearing on my outcome.

My question is... Do I really need to upgrade my 1st generation Apple watch? Aside from my really expensive $1,000 band that doesn’t latch. I’ve replaced the band anyway. (I’m not complaining about that it is what it is....I have worn it a lot). My 1st generation seems to work just fine with the updates so far. We ALL know given Apple’s reputation and how they generally operate Apple “OVER ENGINEERS” their products ESPECIALLY the 1st GENERATIONS; or I should say that is my opinion and my experience so far with Apple...They build their products to LAST and UPDATE their software regularly. Or tell ME AM I WRONG? Because I have an great iMac 27” 2015 I’m still BANKING on trying to get functioning. I’d rather cut my losses than to hold out FAITH.
