Photo App Libraries

After removing a hard drive from an old MacBook Pro, I connected it to my newer Macbook. When I clicked on the Photos app in the old hard drive, the Photos app started "Updating Library". What is happening here? Am I getting an override on my current Photos app? I cannot stop this or quit the app now.

How can I prevent Photos from loading each time I log on to my macbook? Mac App uploads every photo I open on my desktop When I first used Photos App I turned of "copy items to library" so that the program would not upload every photo I opened on my desk top. That feature worked right along. It suddenly stopped working. The App uploads every photo I open on my desktop. I went back into Photos preferences, unchecked the option for uploading. I closed the app, restarted my computer, but it is still uploading photos from the desktop. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Was it the Photos application on the old HD that you double clicked on or was it your Photos library?

If it was the library then the Photos app on your new Mac launched and is converting the library to its version.
