my friend gave me his gift card an said it has $20 on it still,but when i put it in it says it already was redeemed.i cant use the money on it?second i bought a 2018 imac it came with nothing on it so my friend said hed set it up for me but used a hotspot...well now its got the gray apple screen what do i do now thanks

With regards to the gift card, you may want to get a new friend who doesn't give you an empty gift card. ;-) According to this Apple gift card page you can call Apple to obtain the balance on the card.

For your iMac I suggest attempting to reinstall macOS using the macOS Recovery mode. More information is available here:

If you continue to have problems I suggest contacting Apple for assistance.

It sounds like you got the iMac used, can you clarify that please? If so then you need to check with the original owner if they took the steps in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201065 .
Give the gift card back to your friend and have him give you the $20 instead.

or........ return the iMac to it's original owner.
We are all end users like you, we cannot tell you what to do with a gift card.
i should of been more clear the gift card was for 100 dollars,it has 20 dollars left on it when givin to me ,so i cant use it?an what do i do about the imac
