I purchased an iPhone 6splus from pawnshop and it has an activation lock on it. I have no idea who the phone belonged to prior and looking for some help to get around the activation lock. can anybody help?

No. No one here or at Apple is capable of assisting you with getting the Activation Lock released.
The only person who can is the original owner who set it.
