When I try to connect my iPhone XS Max to my MacBook Air it keep connecting and disconnected rapidly.
The "trust this computer" option comes up but disappears again before I can click anything and the phone flickers between charging and not charging very quickly.
Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I would try another cable and or clean the connector port on the iphone from dirt and lint
I have tried multiple cables (all apple cables) and have cleaned any ports. The phone plugs in fine to my desktop Mac just not my MacBook
I’m having the same problem connecting iPhone 8 Plus to Mac and iPhone X to desktop Mac trying to back up phones and won’t make solid connection with usb cable. Keeps connecting and Unconnecting. Can’t back them up at all. Flickers back and forth have tried 3 different usb apple cords does same thing.
yeah me too, my iPhone XR shows up on the iTunes sidebar but in Finder, the only thing that shows up is the Remote Disk...I've looked up so many tutorials but none of them work,,,and by the looks of it, there are a lot of us with this problem so idk what's happening lol

i have the same problem with iphone xs and iphone 8 i used more than cable and it does not connect with the both iphones i have!
If you are not on Catalina and still using iTunes that is where it should appear.
