Ipad blacks out briefly and exits app

Is it multiple apps or just a single app? If it’s just a single app then there may be issues with the apps that need to be taken up with the developer.

Could it be apps that need to be on the internet to work? I’ve experienced issues opening net dependent apps when my internet is weak (the bandwidth just isn’t good enough to give them the data they need to open so they crash.)

You could reinstall the app. What model iPad do you have? Is it an older one?

I had the same problem on my iPhone Xs and all I did really was wait for an update that would fix it, I have contacted apple about this and given the evidence of it happening with a screen recording, bit I will contact them again and ask them to sort it out because I know how annoying it is! This probably isn't really the response that you were looking for but I will make sure to let you know that apple will say in there response!
