Can’t send MMS using SMS on Xfinity Mobile

Hello, I’ve just switched providers to Xfinity Mobile which runs on Verizon network. Everything works except MMS messaging. To my friends who are not using the iPhone, I can send text messages via SMS but I can’t send any type of image. iMessage is working fine: I can send text and images.

I’ve reset the phone to factory settings. I’ve reset the network settings. I‘ve been on the phone with Xfinity support. No luck. Anyone know how to resolve this?

I finally got my MMS issue resolved. Maybe this will work for you. I switched from Google Fi to Xfinity. When I started to use my iPhone on Google Fi, they sent me a set of instructions with the SIM for how to set up your Cellular Data Network settings. See photo attached showing how I had to set up Cellular Data on Google Fi network. I had to erase all these settings to get MMS working with Xfinity mobile.

I knew my problem must be related to those settings. I assumed these settings would be erased when I used the Reset Network Settings option on the iPhone. They weren't. So I erased my iPhone back to a factory state, but when I reloaded everything from my iCloud backup it copied all the old Google Fi cellular network settings back. Still could not send MMS over SMS.

With the Xfinity SIM in my phone, the Cellular > Cellular Data Network screen is not available, so I couldn't go in and manually delete these settings. So, I put my old Google Fi SIM back in the phone so that I could see the Cellular > Cellular Data Network screen and I manually deleted the settings for Cellular Data APN, LTE Setup APN, MMS APN, and MMSC. Then I took the Google Fi SIM out of the phone, put the Xfinity SIM back in, performed a Reset Network Settings and then MMS was working fine on iMessage and on SMS. Problem solved.

So I would recommend you put the SIM back in your phone from your previous carrier, then check the settings on the Cellular > Cellular Data Network screen. Delete whatever is there. This is the only way to erase the Cellular Data and MMS settings from your previous carrier. If you don't have the SIM, you could try erasing the phone back to factory defaults but don't reload your stuff from a backup. You would have to install all your apps again manually.

Hope this works for you.

PS. I also had a good experience with Xfinity mobile tech support, but unfortunately they couldn't solve my problem. I finally figured it out on my own.

SOLVED! I went out and bought a Google Fi SIM, inserted it, was able to delete the MMS settings and then replaced with my Xfinity Mobile SIM and now it worked. I think the issue must be something more complicated then the phone settings because the factory reset didn't do it. Perhaps Xfinity Mobile isn't overwriting that setting and it is following the SIM or something. Anyway, now I know. Hopefully this thread shows up for people switching from Google Fi to Xfinity Mobile (XM).

Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice: Make sure this is on the "3G" option (the other options it might have defaulted to are LTE, VoLTE On or LTE, VoLTE Off) > Roaming: Off

After that, you should start to receive SMS texts and voicemails and the phone should be working like normal. I had this very same issue. Hopefully that is the simple fix :) *fingers crossed*

I've been having the same issue since switching to Xfinity Mobile ~6 months ago. I have spent many hours on the phone with Tier 2 support. I've got an iPhone Xs that worked fine before I switched. Only issue is sending MMS (I receive MMS fine, and all SMS works)

We have tried replacing the SIM card and using the new SIM card in a different new iPhone at the Apple Store. In all cases, the behavior continues, so it has been isolated to a carrier issue. I have a wonderful Tier 2 support person who has been following up with me as she works through this with the Verizon Wholesale group that operates the network. I have open cases with Tier 3 and VZW Wholesale, but both are still in progress. Will update here if I find a solution

Solution fix to MMS messages not sending. 1. Go purchase a Google fi SIM card and insert it into your phone. 2. Go to your phones Cellular settings. 3. Find the option for Carrier services. 3. Reset Carrier services. 4. Remove Google fi sim and replace with your current cell providers sim. 5. Reset network settings on your phone. 6. Enjoy sending MMS messages again🤩

This is really helpful and seemed very likely to be my issue as well. However, having unsuccesfully tried my xfinity sim in another iphone and having unsuccessfully already tried a factory reset without a restore from backup on my phone, it must be something different for me. I've been ransacking my house to find my old Google Fi SIM, with no luck. Was really willing to try anything.
