Note the section that says:

”To prevent liquid damage, avoid these:

• Swimming or bathing with your iPhone
• Exposing your iPhone to pressurized water or high velocity water, such as when showering, water skiing, wake boarding, surfing, jet skiing, and so on
• Using your iPhone in a sauna or steam room
• Intentionally submerging your iPhone in water“

Also keep in kind that an indication of water exposure or water damage immediately voids your warranty.

The iPhone 7 is water resistant and is rated IP67. This means it can be submerged in water for 30 minutes at a depth of 1M.

However, Apple do not cover water damage under warranty so I wouldn’t recommend purposely putting the phone in water.

No. That is NOT what it means.

The time and depth figures refer to laboratory testing under controlled conditions.

Your correct these figures are from laboratory testing.

I wasn’t spreading bad information I was giving an example on how water resistant the iPhone 7 is which can then be judged upon into really life scenarios.
