Hello, I did a reset on an old ipad It belonged to my brother -in- laws Mother who passed away years ago. So I did the old hold down the home button and plugg it in to the computer trick, which did a factorty rest now i get to pick the language/country thing wich work but it will not take my Apple ID. it wasn't the original Which of course is no longer available. how can i get it to take my ID?

The iPad is locked with Activation Lock. There is no way around unlocking Activation Lock without inserting the device’s associated Apple ID. If this is not an option you will have to find the original receipt for the device that clearly shows the serial number. Once you have this document you can have Apple unlock your iPad.
You cannot bypass activation lock. If this iPad was owned by someone deceased, the only hope you have in using this device is to provide the following documents:
With this, Apple "may" be willing to unlock the iPad.
You must also be the court designated representative of the deceased. Proof of purchase is not required to remove the activation lock from an Apple ID known to belong to the deceased.
