Iphone x green line

My iphone just showed a vertical green line the whole length of the screen close to the middle in the left side. I found on the web that some people had this similar problem and got there phone replaced or the screen replaced if its under the 1 year warranty but For me my phone is out of that warranty I contacted apple support they told me to get my phone in for service to be phyiscally examined to determine if the screen need replacement and I will have to pay for the new screen , why do I have to pay for a manufacturing fault I didnt drop the phone nor the phone fell in water , the phone has no damage on the outside the touch is working well but because Im out the warranty I have to pay for a new screen :(

I have this same problem. Just happened last night. Sooooooo frustrating. Giving up on iPhone. Moving to Samsung. Tired of this crappy customer support. It is a hardware issue Apple has created and they are asking their customers to pay for it.

my iphonex had one green line and over a few days it got worse and the screen started to bulge which after googling I found it was likely a swollen battery

my phone was out of warranty but less than 2 years old. Booked into Genius Bar where it was visually checked and diagnostic check It was sent to the depot for further inspection

conclusion was they replaced the screen, battery and speaker piece for free under consumer law

excellent service from Apple
