I have not been able to connect my iMac to myHP OfficeJet Pro printer

Shouldn't be too hard. Are you connecting it via usb (wired) or via Wifi (wirelessly)?? If it's the first way, it should show up under printers, under System preferences. I don't know what model, year of iMac you have or the OS you're running, so I can only give you general answers. If it's the second way, you usually have to run an HP wizard which you can download from hp's website for your particular model of OfficeJet Pro printer. There should be a touch control panel on the printer itself, or a navigation circle (up, down, left, right, and OK in the middle) plus a menu button. Usually for wireless, you have to go into the settings/menu on the printer itself, and turn on wireless printing, which may not be on by default. You'll also have to remember your wifi password, and the name of your WiFi network, because you'll be looking for it, and then when prompted, type in the wifi password. This you'll probably have to do character by character, which is annoying, and you have to be patient. when done, press the ok key on the printer. the little wifi symbol on the front of the printer should light up, meaning that it's on the same wifi network as your iMac. I think to print wirelessly is called "Air Print", and it should show up as a printer under that. Again, I don't know what model of anything you have, so can only give you general answers. If you go to HP's webpage for your model of printer (under support) it should tell you how to set it up with your iMac to print wirelessly. You should also check to see if there's a firmware update for your printer from the printer itself. (the menu thing) and if so, apply it.
good luck

The responses would have been most useful. Thanks. I have Apple Care. So I checked and got a quick and simple fix. On the iMac I opened preferences to printers/scanners and deleted the HP printer. Then I power cycled the printer and returned to the iMac/preferences/printer (blank) and clicked on +. The printer appeared and was connected.
