I wish to split a single MIDI note in 8 or 16 equal sections. I can do it using scissors tool 15 times. But is there any quicker way or using a shortcut with a single stroke? I tried holding options key. But did not work on a MIDI note.

There is a quicker way: hold option while cutting with the scissors tool. Also works for regions.
Ah, I now see you already tried. Well, it should work. Here you can see that it works. I used option-rightclick (because my scissors are set to the right mouse button), but it also works with the scissors set to the left mouse button.

Actually, I had read this solution on help menu earlier, but was doing it wrongly, so was unsuccessful.
Your videolink helped. I realised now that position of the cursor (scissors) on the note decides the number of segments; closer it is to leading edge of note, more the number of segments! Earlier, I was holding cursor in the middle and wondered why just one cut even when I had held Option key down.
