Restore data from a time machine backup

My MacBook Pro 2018 keyboard wasn’t working so I took it to the apple store and just got it replaced. The data got erased but I have a time machine backup and when I was setting it up there was an error message.

Both of these showed up, when I clicked on them they both had error messages.

Also I checked, there are no software updates available.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

What OS was the backup? I would advise booting from the Time Machine backup, formatting the internal drive using Disk Utility, then restore.

Hold down option at power on with the Time Machine drive connected. It should give an option to boot from it and will give options like you would have from Recovery.
