homepod reset to factory setting

Homepod is not responding to the pressing with one finger reset command. It thinks it is connected to a Home app when it is not.

I have removed it from the Home app. I have unplugged it, waited and tried the Apple "reset" routine. When I press the top with one finger, Siri prompts me that "it can not connect to the internet, check the home app this devise is connected to".

This homepod was working fine before.

Is there another way to reset the homepod to factory settings?

thanks!!

Reset HomePod

https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT208244

Timing is everything with the unplugging part and counting the 5 seconds; the parts in bold

press the top of HomePod to reset it to its factory settings. Here’s how:

  1. Unplug HomePod, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back in.
  2. Wait 5 seconds, then touch your finger to the top of HomePod and hold it there.
  3. The white spinning light will turn red. Keep your finger down.
  4. Siri will say that your HomePod is about to reset. When you hear three beeps, you can lift your finger.

If you still see HomePod in the Home app after you reset it, then you'll need to manually remove it from the Home app.
