Powerbeats Pro, balance issue with L/R headphones

Just tried them today for the first time.   I went out running and I feel like I hear more on the right side than on the left.  I have an iPhone XR and the sound is balanced.   I have no hearing issues either.  However, I also am hearing things on the right side playing differently than what is on the left side.  I guess this is called panning.  I’ve never had issues with sound balance even with the cheapest headphones.   I tried sliding the L,R sound which is in the centered position, on the iPhone, a bit over to the left, which seemed to help the headphones.   However, when I went to stream in my car directly from the iPhone, it was obviously unbalanced now as it was definitely louder on the left side and I had to readjust it.   So, is it an issue with the Powerbeats or is the sound just different on both sides, as in “stereo”,  or am I imagining there is an issue?   They are definitely different than anything I’ve ever used, as being true wireless.

Hello bonibee,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. Congratulations on your new Powerbeats Pro! I know how exciting it is to have a new set of earphones and I understand wanting to be sure that they’re performing as they should. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to help determine if this is the expected performance or if there is an issue. To begin, try pairing your Powerbeats Pro with another device. Play the same song that you noticed the balance sounded different. Does the issue still occur?

If the sound issue occurs with the test device and your iPhone XR, you’ll want to follow these steps to Reset your Beats earphones.

If the sound issue only occurs with your iPhone XR, you’ll want to unpair and repair your Powerbeats Pro with your iPhone XR following these steps:

1 - Go to Settings > Bluetooth

2 - Select the name of your Powerbeats Pro > tap on the information icon (the “ i ” in a circle) and select “Forget this device”

3 - Restart your iPhone

4 - Follow the steps in this article to Set up and use your Powerbeats Pro with an iPhone, Mac, or other device

5 - Test to see if there is any change in the audio of the song.

If the issue persists only with your iPhone XR, check to see that the iOS is up-to-date by going to Settings > General > About > Software Update.

Cheers!
