Synching for Two users across 5 Apple Devices

My partner and I wish to share Calendar and Contacts across our Apple devices, but have separate messaging as follows. So far I haven't found the magical combination of two Apple ID's and settings to make this happen. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Cheers. Ian

You would need to use a common Apple ID for iCloud and have each person use their individual ID for Messages, but doing so would sync all your data together to include photos, Reminders, and so forth. Using a common Apple ID isn't recommended.

I suggest you each use your own Apple ID so your data is separate. You can use iCloud to create a shared calendar. For Contacts, you would need a 3rd party app/application to share your contacts.

Thank you very much gentlemen, I seemed to have achieved my aim by:

Using User2 AppleID for iCloud for all devices. iMac iCloud set to User2 for Contacts and Calendar only.

Using User1 and User2 AppleIDs for Messaging on User1 and User2 devices respectively.

I needed to turn off/on messaging a few times to get iMac and iDevices synching.

I am not fussed about photo or other data sharing.

I shall review carefully but hopefully all good so far.

I would have thought this was a common scenario for many couples, and therefore a simpler process be well defined. I have suggested so at apple.com/feedback

Thank you again.

Cheers

Ian
