I want to buy a song or two but I don't want to sign-up for Apple Music, not even for Three Months of Free Music. I do not want a subscription, just a song or two. Been trying on my iPhone. If I click 'Not Now' then the song screen offers 'Play' but the software keeps taking me back to Apple Music 'try it free' but I dont want a subscripton.
Wow, I only saw Music on my phone, same icon as iTunes always familiar on my computer. Now that I look better I see the magenta/white star lo and behold, itunes store. I see the prices there. Thank you D Glass! I haven't bought music much all these years, so I'm not handy with iTunes and its subtle evolution.

It is, and has always been, possible to purchase single songs in iTunes without an Apple Music subscription. Simply click on the price.
Thanks Sberman, the image helped so I could see the price you referred to. I went to my computer (macbookair) and found the prices as your image shows them. But if I go to iTunes on my iPhone the prices don't show up. The song shows up, I even scrolled to right & left, but no price. If I click on the song the next screen is, all over again, the "free" offer for Apple Music. My phone is on iOS 12.4.1 and it's a 6S.
PS - all the help messages that reassure it is still possible, they all date from a year ago, summer 2018.
Open the iTunes Store app instead of the Music app.
