Unfortunately, the article Joseph linked does not go back as far as 2007.
The Mactracker database (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mactracker/id430255202?mt=12) shows the 2007 MBP17 to have the following identifiers:
If you are ordering parts, different vendors can use any but seldom all of these identifiers. The "A1229" and the model identifier are the most used, outside of the name "MacBook Pro 17-inch Mid/Late 2007."
The Order number will vary with options and localizations. Example: that computer with a US English key will have a different order number than one fitted with a German keyboard, so the Order # is harder to use.
