Apple Card Failed as Payment Method for iTunes

HELP!!

I have been having a lot of trouble with my apple card staying as my default payment method. I was able to make an iTunes purchase after I was initially approved. I paid my balance in full and made a deposit onto my Starbucks card which I also paid in full. I first noticed that my apple card was reflecting "Failed" as a payment method after I received my physical card. I put some additional money onto my Starbucks card to test whether the payment would fail and it went through just fine. I'm sure it went through because it uses the wallet and not iTunes. The only reason I applied for this card was to be able to use it as my default iTunes payment. Any advice will be appreciated.

Additional Information:

  • When I tap on the apple card in "manage payments" the message states "your payment method was declined. Please enter another payment method"
  • I have a zero balance on my apple card
  • my address matches everywhere (iTunes, Wallet, Apple Card)
  • I have tried changing the card number and restarting my phone
  • I have called Apple Card Support at Goldman Sachs and they don't know why iTunes was not accepting my payment
  • I have called Apple Support and the rep didn't know that Apple had a credit card....

I was finally able to get it resolved on my second call to Goldman Sachs - Apple Card using the number through the Wallet App. They had to re-verify my identity and I was finally able to use my card through iTunes. Apple support was not able to help me with this issue. I also spoke to a supervisor after the rep was unable to find anything wrong. It had to something to do with missing identity verification that was removed when I had issues activating my physical card.

I know how frustrated you must feel especially if you got the card so you could use it exclusively for iTunes purchases/subscriptions. My first attempt calling Goldman Sachs yielded no results. I believe my second call was successful because I was not about to let them off the phone without fixing my issue. They could probably hear the frustration as well. I really hope this helps and that you get your issue sorted out. My card works perfectly now and I have had no other problems with it.

Mine might be fixed. I had a fraud transaction a month ago and I guess something wasn’t cleared. After they did their thing, I deleted it from my Apple ID then went back into my card in my wallet and clicked the make Apple Card my Apple default. Now it doesn’t say failed.

what’s strange is that other purchases thru Apple Pay have gone thru fine.
