How do I type the degree symbol when writing text on a Mac? Is there a shortcut?

I hold down option and type the 0 (zero) key - Option Shift 8 is another solution to a slightly different symbol. Note: Open System Preferences, select the Keyboard tab and click on the Input Sources option. You should then see your keyboard and the option to show the input option in the menubar. This provides a mini keyboard. It is one of the ways you can see all the various things the keyboard can type. If, for example, you hold the option key, the keyboard will show the symbols you get when you hold that key and type a letter on the keyboard. That’s how I learned the keypresses for the symbols I frequently use. There’s also 3rd party software that can make these special symbols easier to find.
