I saw old posts for this (2018) and wanted to let people know that it is occurring now.

Scams that generate money for the criminals behind them — persist because they continue to profit from the gullible. Apple cannot stop these because they are likely from offshore actors.
Just understand that Apple will never interject this junk via email or browser pop-up.
