I cant connect my iPhone to iTunes on my laptop

I used to be able to just plug in the USB connected to my phone and it started up iTunes and automatically did a sync. Now it doesnt seem to recognise it.. I did change my phone from iPhone 8 to iPhone XS but I set up the Xs by iphone 8 back up. and it all worked great

I assume that you tried quitting iTunes, restarting your computer and your phone, but if you haven’t, try that first. If that fails, you might find some help here.
