Why, I cannot answering or send an e-mail when I am At home, with my iPhone?

Hello Everybody.

On my iPhone, I do not understand why I can't send or answering an e-mail at home with my personal WIFI network, made by; upstair with a Time Capsule, downstair, by an AirPort Express?

In the field I can !

So, without WIFI all things are ok, not the case at home...

Have you an explanation about where I did a mistake?

Great thanks for your future help.

You have not entered an email user ID and password for the outgoing mail server (SMTP server) in Settings/Passwords & Accounts for the email account that you have a problem with. They are not needed when you are connected to the cellular network because the phone uses the cellular carrier's SMTP server, and it "knows" who you are. But when you use Wi-Fi the mail server does not know who you are, so you must provide your email user ID and password.

BTW, it doesn't matter what kind of phone you have or what version of iOS; that was an unnecessary question.

Hi Lawrence,

Understanding know, the difference between Cellular and WIFI protocol e-mail sending, thank you.

Even if all fields in the configuration of the SMTP server (User, Password and so on) are enter, I have the same result in sending e-mails ; failure.

Is the password of the sender server is the same that the receive server, I remark in the SMTP a difference in the quantity of characters in the two passwords ... So I revise it, but without any success, I know the number of the port server is important too, but I do not touch it.

For most email accounts the receiving and sending servers use the same user ID and password.

Unless it is a POP account the easiest fix might be to delete the account, then add it back. When you add an account the phone contacts the server and asks what the settings should be. You might also visit the email providers website; I'm sure they have instructions for configuring an iPhone to use with the mail service. What kind of account is it?

Why, I cannot answering or send an e-mail when I am At home, with my iPhone?
