Buy a used macbook without OS?

I am buying a used macbook without OS from Dell Financial, how should get the latest OS installed and the cost? (model Apple MB Pro MLL42LL/A)

As long as it's not firmware locked (and it doesn't sound like your seller is likely to do that) the OS is free. There should be firmware on the machine that would allow you to enter Internet Recover and load the OS. Apple no longer charges for the operating system. If that doesn't work (although it should) it might also be possible to create a bootable installer on any kind of USB drive.
