Playlists on iPhone Do Not Sync onto iTunes on Mac

Hi,

I have a playlist that I have created on my iPhone and when I connect and sync it on iTunes on Mac, the playlist does not show under the device iPhone. Is this normal? Can I do anything to get the iPhone playlist to show up in iTunes for Mac?
