I just bought an XR last month to replace my iphone6. Is there any kind of rebate possible since the big price drop? I checked my credit card and they no longer offer price protection. Am I just out of luck? Should I just go enjoy my new XR and forget about the $150 price drop? Would stopping by an Apple store and asking about it make any difference? Thanks for any advice.

You know what? Give it up. iPhone XR is a great phone and you bought it right when you needed it. Enjoy it.
Yeah, you spent some extra on that, but we didn't know if Apple's gonna leave iPhone XR for sale before the event.
My personal point of view – buy an iPhone right when you need it and you have money for that. It doesn't matter if the event with the new ones is a month away. iPhone 11 is not even out yet, but we know fir sure that iPhone 12 or iPhone 11S is coming in less then a year :)
