On my Mac book pro, I can’t connect to the internet. I have WIFI showing in the menu bar, but I still can’t connect. Any suggestions?

Ever since I updated to macOS 10.15 I am having problems connecting to the internet using my home network that preciously worked fine in 10.14. Now I simply can not connect any browsers, nothing to my internet, but wireless diagnostics says all is fine, but there is a conflicting country code. Of course there is: this is an American computer being used in Brazil as it has been used without problemas in Europe, Japan, USA, etc. Catalina is much worse than the previous OS. Any help?

I am having WiFi connectivity issues since the update as well. Mine however are from public wifis and not my personal one at home. I can't seem to get it figured out or find anyone else with the same issue yet.

I have exactly the same issue but can’t find any help to correct this. I have been advised to check my router when clearly the issue is the software update.
I had some files of a VPN (ProtonVPN) still on my computer. Once I got rid of them, my Mac started to connect to the internet like it used to.
Unfortunately I don’t have any old VPN Giles but thank you.
You suggestion was worth a shot nothing else was working. I logged into my IPVanish VPN and everything started working. Who knows why. Anyway thank you.

We had the same problem after upgrading iOS. The network panel showed it trying to connect to a vpn. We stopped that and it's ok now
