Does apple care transfer automatically? Bpurchased

Awhile back I bought 2 iPhone 7 at Best Buy and purchased apple care thru them. 3 weeks ago I lost 1 of the phones so we upgraded to 2 iPhone XR bought at att store. Did that apple care transfer to the new phones?should I cancel care on the 7’s? If so , Who do I contact? Thanks for the help!!
