How do I get the Exchange email account on my Mac to sync with my iPhone?

You set up the Exchange account on your phone as well.

I have always received all of my AOL emails on both my iPhone and Mac. up until last week they were both synced and mails deleted from one account were automatically deleted from the other. But not now and I just can't work out how to put it right.
