Iphoto version 4 problems

Hello. I just bought a new laptop, and transferred my backup of my old computer (made with time machine) to the new one. Most things are going fine except for a few issues with iphoto, which I will list here:

First-How do I hide the sidebar on the left? Earlier versions you could, but now even going to fullscreen mode doesnt hide it, and I have the "Always show in fullscreen" option turned off! Its very distracting and annoying when I don't want/need it, and would like to be able to turn it off/hide it when its undeeded.

Second-When I go to my ipod in itunes, and try to "import selected albums only", everything is greyed out and I cannot select anything. Bit confused as to what is going on.

Lastly, there are photos I added to and synced with my ipod after my most recent update (which was yesterday, found these photos earlier today but then bought a new computer), is there a way to take those photos (which are in an Iphoto album) and re-add them to the album as it exists on my computer presently? Going to the device on Iphoto doesn't let me see the iphoto albums on the device/ipod.
