This might be a dumb question but does the Apple Store accept cash when purchasing an iPhone? I wanted to pay in full but do half in cash and the other half on my credit card. Is this possible?

Of course it's possible.
If you have a debit card in your Wallet App, you could use that for the cash payment with Apple Pay and put the rest on a credit card. But if you walk in with actual bills in hand, they’ll take that too. Just using Apple Pay avoids walking around with a ton of actual cash in your pocket.
