I have 2 following questions.
iPhone X
The iPhone X was discontinued last year when the Xr and Xs model’s came out. Similarly, the announcement of the iPhone 11 models meant the iPhone XS models were discontinued this month.
The current production lineup of iPhones sold by Apple are the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, the Xr and the 8, as displayed on Apple’s web site. Also note that the 256Gb versions of the iPhone 8 and Xr have also been discontinued this month.
Apple’s web site always only shows the models they are currently producing and selling. You may see iPhone XS and X models showing up in the Apple refurbished store, if there is a refurbished store on your countries Apple web site (it is not available everywhere).
Apple does not sell either the X or Xs any more. If 3rd party retailers want to charge more for them, there is no law to stop them from doing so.

as apple don't sell X and Xs anymore then the thirdparty who does
can choose to let supply and demand set the price I suppose
Where are you looking at this? Are you at www.apple.com I can assure you that in the US, if you go to apple.com, the X and Xs Max is not listed as a phone for sale. Also your link says Available at authorized Resellers. That's not Apple directly. It's already been mentioned in responses to you that Authorized Resellers may still have stock.
They are available from resellers who still have stock. They are NOT available from Apple any longer.
They have been discontinued.
The X and XS have both been discontinued by Apple.
I think you have to visit apple site with more concentration.
That explains the high pricing.
That's what i said. Authorized resellers. Actually any reseller. There are endless shops and websites where you are able to buy these phones. They are just not available anymore at Apple directly.
