My iPad cannot be activated because it said the activation server could not be reached, how do I fix that?

Take out the old sim card, even if you haven't used it recently.

Power off your phone and iPad. Power back on and it worked for me.

Just pop in a new un activated SIM card and it should clear up problem

Not helpful. Link takes you to an article about not being able to activate your phone. WiFi only iPads don't have a SIM card, and there's no carrier to contact.
