If you mean with two-factor authentication : Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

A trusted device is an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9 and later, or a Mac with OS X El Capitan and later that you've already signed in to using two-factor authentication. It’s a device we know is yours and that can be used to verify your identity by displaying a verification code from Apple when you sign in on a different device or browser.

If the account is greyed out check Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Account Changes

Thank you for your reply! My iPhone is listed as a NOT trusted device. When I try to sign in with my Apple ID I am directed to go to settings and tap my name. My name is clouded and will not allow me into my settings to use a code number. Any thoughts? Thank you for your help!
