Display rotation bug in Mojave 10.14.6

I use two monitors, one of which is rotated to portrait orientation. It's a Dell P2217, connected by HDMI.

Since upgrading to the latest Mojave 10.14.6, it loses the 90 degree rotation of the portrait monitor every time it wakes up from overnight "sleep". Resetting and confirming the rotation lasts only until it goes to sleep again.

Very annoying bug, and surely very fixable?

Hi RayBu,

Thanks for the post! I understand you're running into a possible issue with an external display and what looks like a Mac mini; is that right?

To start, do you have any peripherals, like external drives or hubs, connected? If so, try disconnecting all of those and test again; does the same issue occur?

As a test, you can try creating a temporary administrator account to see if you can replicate the behavior there; this would tell you if the issue is system-wide or user specific: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Depending on how the test goes, resetting your NVRAM may help since it stores a number of display settings: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

I hope this helps get you started. Feel free to reply back with the results of testing in a new user, and the community may have more guidance to offer. Have a good one!
