No. A proper USB-PD power adapter will negotiate voltage with the device.


And that the maximum output is 72W is irrelevant. The input current will be controlled by the charging circuits. As long as the voltage is properly regulated, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not quite sure what issue he thinks there will be.

Yeah - I don't get what the problem would be. I can plug a 20 watt device into my outlet that's rated at up to 1825 watts. Any electrical engineer at least would understand how a voltage source works (current = voltage / resistance).


In any case, good luck with whatever you get. The biggest problem with these lighter adapters is how well they handle power spikes.
