I requested a refund on AirPods that I had ordered but I want to keep them

I requested a refund on AirPods that I had ordered but I want to keep them. They are being shipped to my house and Apple is saying to return them before October 1 but I want to keep them. If I don’t return them before October 1, can I keep them and still be charged like a regular purchase?
