Can't update 2nd Gen iPod Touch to new iOS_4.

I've been trying to download the new 4.0 update for my 2nd Gen iPod touch, but it's not working. When I press update and let it download, right after it's done, it says there was an error. The error says, "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod, Justin's iPod. The network connection timed out." Then it says to make sure I'm connected to the internet. The thing is, the whole time of the download, I'm connected to the internet. Does anybody know how to fix this and to update my iPod? I tried restoring it and it says to update and restore, but I can't restore unless the update is successful, just the same problem.
