how do i rename a collection in books iOS12.3

Ok, I finally worked it out. Excessively slow today.

From main Library view select > Collections

then on top right of collections bar select > edit

then one tap the title of the collection you wish to rename,

a cursor will appear, you can delete and rename the title,

then select done top right of collections bar.

exactly the same process for iPhone
