Mouse comes to life after I hit the power button and is normal after that...? Thoughts?
Apple Tech says to try again after the next OS update... ideas for now?

As far as I have seen with my iMac, its a bug with some mice with the current update. Unfortunately there isn't a fix that I have seen and they won't be releasing a new software update until the 30th with the new MacOS update.

If the iMac is off (not just sleeping) its Bluetooth and USB circuits have no power, so there is no way the mouse can start it. OS updates can't change this.
If it's just sleeping, clicking the mouse should wake it. If it's a Bluetooth mouse, you have to enable the wake feature using the Advanced button in Bluetooth system preference.
Apple support has fixed the issue. It was not the Mouse, but something got "wonky" (technical term...) in the iMac Operating System. Deleted and reloaded OS and reboot. All seems well now thanks to Apple advanced tech support.
