Photoshop replacement

I had been using Photoshop on my Mac for many years. I only use it for the occasional but important touching up of family photos. Photoshop now charges a fee every month to use their app.!

So I need a simple application to do this work. I tried Gimp but it is far too complicated for my usage and also does not seem to like Mac much! Can someone suggest an App that will allow me to do simple touching up and works well on my Mac?

Agree with Old Toad. Photoshop Elements is your next best choice. Has many of the features of it's big brother (no CMYK support) at a fraction of the price, and a one-time cost.

The default interface is pretty different from the full version of Photoshop, so would take some time to get used to. Or, click on the Expert tab and it's pretty much the same.

You can download a trial version to give it a spin.

I went to Photoshop Elements for Mac. The largest is 64 bit so should be compatible with future systems. Also it's a one time purchase - no subscription.

I like it as I do a lot of removing backgrounds and it's magic want selection tools work well as I as accustomed to Photoshop C3 and its tools. Its GUI is not exactly like Photoshop but quite close.

Affinity is also popular.

An open source app called GIMP, is based on Photoshop but it's GUI is not nearly as friendly. as PS.

Pixelator and Pixelmator Pro are other popular editors.

You should visit the various developer's sites and see what feature the apps have that you need before making a decision.
