iPhone Upgrade Payments

Quick question regarding the program. I started the program last year 9/20/18 with the iPhone XS and so far have made 12 payments and had the phone for 12 months.

I'm upgrading to the iPhone 11 tomorrow which also charges you the first months payment.

For the iPhone XS there is a payment scheduled for tomorrow 9/20/19 and that would make it the 13th payment but the phone is being returned tomorrow for the new one.

Am I missing something here? Will that payment be returned to me or credited towards the new phone? Should I just not pay it? I could understand if I was getting the new phone in like 2 weeks or something then it would make sense to still make the payment.

According to iPhone upgrade program faq:

Do I still need to make payments for my current iPhone while I wait for my new iPhone to ship?

Yes. Once it ships, we’ll pause the payments on your current loan, and the payments for your new iPhone will begin. After we receive your old device and determine that it’s in good working condition, we’ll close out the associated loan.

Yeah this iPhone upgrade loan is ridiculous, not a single person has a clue about anything. I call apple and get told to call citizens one. I call citizens one they tell me I need to contact apple. Not a single person at the apple store has a clue either.

The loan payment was taken out for both phones yesterday on 9/20. After the trade in apple gave me a receipt that states they paid off the remainder of the $647 balance but my balance was only $594 on the loan.

After speaking to multiple people, one person from the billing department at citizens one told me that once it’s updated on their end that the phone was traded in they will refund the 13th payment that was made. We will see, otherwise I’ll just file a dispute with the bank.
