Let me explain why...I had the same question for an iphone I bought in San Francisco with verizon as provider/carrier. Many expert were saying it will not work in France as there are specific model number for europe or USA...but at the end it worked perfectly as we have the same band support...it was really not a problem at all...
so that s why I don’t se me why it will be an issue for the apple watch....verizon / at&t are using the same band support than SFR for me in France....am I right ?
thank you stedman but are you sure? many people told me the same thing when I wanted to buy an iphone bought in the usa...showing me the apple link to a page with the different band support by country and carrier...and you know what it works perfectly...
so I have a big doubt the watch as the band support is the same
The cellular option of the Watch is a completely different beast than the iPhone. There are two basic models for the cellular Watch, the Americas and rest of the world. If you buy one in the US it will NOT work in France despite the experiences you had with the iPhone. The link that Bob posted will show you that and show you which carriers it will work with in France.
Also keep in mind the warranty on your Verizon model phone is only good in the US so if you have a serious hardware problem you will have to return to the US for service. Same with the Watch if you purchase it in the US.
thank you for your answer. I had a link closed than the one posted by Bob for the iphone with the different band for each country and at the end it s so technical that no one really understand.
In France we have 90% of the band proposed in the US and when i met comparing the 2 apple watch band supported it looks really familiar
Anyway thank you for your time Deggie and for the warranty I will have only 1 year worldwide.

No French cellular carrier will support an Apple Watch from the U.S.
You need the cellular carrier to replicate your iPhone number to your Apple Watch. If you talk to your French carrier, they will tell you "No".
The Apple Watch is not an independent device. It is an iPhone accessory, and the cellular features are an extension of the iPhone cellular.
It will not work outside the region where it is sold.
