Photos in iMessage disappeared after ios13 update

After updating to iOS 13, all photos previously sent and received through iMessage are gone. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

Just a suggestion which you may have already tried, but on my phone if I click on the info icon at the top and scroll to the bottom it says x number of images in iCloud and there is an option to download them. Hope this helps

I am experiencing this same issue. I have done what was suggested by other users with no positive results. I’ve signed in and out of iCloud and updated to 13.1.2. The only thing I haven’t tried is restoring and reuploading my back up but from the previous posts here about even getting a new device, this will not resolve this issue. I pay for iCloud to save my photos and precious information but what good is it if it’s inaccessible.

Same here. I’m close to being done with Apple. I have 10GB worth of photos and 5GB of videos and documents/voice memos I can no longer access due to this. For the price of iPhones and $9.99 for iCloud this is not worth it. I have had no help from Apple support. They said it’s an issue that some have reported. However, it’s been an issue since September and doesn’t appear Apple has prioritized this since it doesn’t affect every user. Well, they may just lose my business.

my last reply from my advisor:

I understand that the length of time isn’t ideal; and you want to get this resolved. I am waiting back from engineering, unfortunately I cannot speed it up. Tomorrow I will try and reach back out again and see if there is anything else we can do. You can try another Senior Advisor if you want, they will come down with the same advice. If it has already been escalated to Engineering then we must wait for a response. Let me check again tomorrow and see what the next steps are

Thank you for posting the reply you got. I was also told that I wasn’t the only one who had brought this issue up and engineers were supposedly going to possibly look into it. Let’s hope at some point there is a solution for this. Based on Apple discussions over 200 people have had this issue, not counting those who haven’t been on Apple discussions. There are likely more. For the prices they have I think this is a major issue. It’s a feature of iMessage nearly all of us use, and some more than others. What’s the point in having all of this data if it is not accessible? Even free email services and Facebook messenger have the option to look at attachments. It is a major inconvenience.

Mine have all gone from my iPad, after a week in discussions which was escalated to engineer report nothing found. The agent was very helpful but denied it could have been the update. Maybe not enough people are reporting it in order for it to be thoroughly investigated. I am devastated as all my children’s wedding pictures and grandchildren’s pic are gone, I also pay storage..

I have the same issue all messages previously under the “i” icon has disappeared. I have the update 13.1.2 and I need to know how do I get them back. At the bottom of the all photos in the specific text thread it says...more photos will appear once they are finished indexing...what does this mean? It’s been a week since my update. Seems excessively long to be doing whatever it’s doing. Apple please fix.

Let us know if you find anything else out. I don’t have my iMessages on any other device other than my iPhone. My last iPhone was 13.1.2 and didn’t have the issue. Then when I wiped it to send off, and backed up my new iPhone 7 Plus, it was all gone with 13.1.3. It only shows me what I’ve sent on this device in the few days I’ve had it. If you check storage media is clearly there it is just there is no access. When one pays $9.99 a month for iCloud and pays a high price for a phone this is unacceptable. Even free email and message services have the option to look at shared attachments. C’mon.
