How can i unlock my phone?

my iphone is an locked sim phone

and i want to unlock it. When i went to the nearest apple store they told that i have to go to the same store that i bought the phone from. But i cant go to it no more because my friend bought it to me from USA. how can i unlock the phone?

If it's carrier locked, you have to contact the carrier and ask them to unlock it for you.
