My iPad Pro will not complete transfer of images from the Apple Card SD reader. The camera is a Leica M. The images show on the iPad but not one, or not all, will complete the transfer process. The circles just spin without result. Any ideas?

Have you tried restarting iPad?
If this still does not resolve your problem then most likely this problem will be resolved with the iPadOS 13 software update coming on September 24th.
