Well, the first line looks like this, and it does not include the title. Are you sure you are talking about imported Handwritten notes, or are you talking about text notes? If I click the date changes from "Edited" to "Created" but as you see, the Note name "New Note" does not appear there and I cannot obtain an insertion point there. Please be even clearer!

I have the same problem. In class everyday they make HANDWRITTEN notes on an iPad, and then airdrop them to us. On my Mac I want to change the name (20 different notes all called "New Note" is not useful), but I can not find any method to do that. I feel like I'm living in an alternative universe, where a simple obvious task is completely concealed. Is this really a MacOS? I have tried every menu (and pop up contextual menus), I have tried opening the note and failing to highlight or change the window title, I have googled, I have spent half an hour on hold with Apple Support, and still I have not discovered how to perform this quotidian task. Crazy. Anyone really know?
Okay, you are right, that does work. Even though the name of the Note does not appear there, clicking does allow you to type something, and that does become the name of the note. What a brilliant interface, 100% obscured. And this a Mac app written by Apple!
Yes, that is how Simplenote has always worked. But having used the Mac since 1984, back when they believed in modeless design and showing every option clearly in a menu, making such a common action so difficult to discoed rubs me the wrong way. Hard to teach old dogs new hidden tricks I guess.
The first line of the Note is the name.
There is no "First Line" that I can locate in a handwritten note. Please tell me more clearly what to highlight or change. Thanks.
The very fist line in the note is the name. Add your desired title to the first line of the note. I don’t know how I could be more clear.
I thought it was brilliant. No need for some extra field. Just use the first line as the name.
