iphone 11 touch screen unresponsive

My new iPhone 11 has stopped working. First i got a very strange screen of broken up colours, now it looks okay but the touch screen is totally unresponsive so my phone is completely useless, all this literaly 24 hours after i picked it up. Any similar things like this or have I been given a broken phone? What should I do next?
