ipod is locked

my ipod is locked since 2 years ago and its says that i need to connect it to itunes but whenever i connect it to itunes it says that i need to unlock my ipod with the password. but because my ipod is locked i cant try to put the password,what should i do?

iTunes wont let me to connect my ipod. and I cant try to unlocked the ipod.

Did you do the following exactly -- starting before you connect the cable to the computer?


iPhone 6s or earlier, iPod touch (6th generation or earlier), or iPad with Home button: Press and hold the Side (or Top) button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Connect your device to your computer while holding the Home button. Keep holding the Home button until you see the recovery-mode screen.
