Unable to search messages in Whatsapp after restoring chat backup

Dear Community,

I did a fresh install of iOS 13 and downloaded Whatsapp again from the Appstore. After I recovered my chat history, that was backed-up in iCloud, I was unable to search for specific messages in the searchbar in Whatsapp. Only the messages that I sent after the recovery were showing up.

Since I couldn't really find the soloution online, I would like to post the soloution here , that worked for me. I hope this can help people having the same problem in the future :)

When opening Whatsapp for the first time after the reinstall, you will have to put in your phone number. After this step, it would ask you whether you would like to restore your chat history. Click on "restore" and Whatsapp will begin to restore your chats. Note that it will download any media afterwards.

After this step, Whatsapp will bring you to your chats page and will start to download your media files. Go to the search box and start searching a message. Whatsapp will start indexing. Do not Restart or turn off your device while indexing. Wait for it to finish.

When finished, you can search for your old messages again!
